Dr. Patricia Whalen
Consultant and Adjunct Professor, Florida International University professor
Prior to her 20-year university teaching career, Dr. Patricia Whalen spent more than 17 years in senior corporate public relations and marketing positions where she headed corporate communications for a Fortune 300 manufacturing firm and, later, headed marketing and communications for an international telecommunications company. She is the recipient of the prestigious PRSA Silver Anvil award in corporate crisis and served for six years on the PRSA’s Board of Ethics and Professional Standards (BEPS). She holds a doctorate in mass media, a master’s in business management and a bachelor’s of arts in English. She served on faculty at Northwestern’s Medill Integrated Marketing Communications program for eight years and later served as graduate director at DePaul University’s PR and Advertising program. She is currently a consultant and adjunct professor at Florida International University, where she teaches PR ethics and Global Strategic Communications.
