I saw a poll over the weekend that says 55 percent of us still use a paper calendar, while 45 percent use a digital calendar. I bet that most of us in public relations have both.
Between work and home, I have three paper calendars and two digital, including my work computer and another on my phone.
When Jan. 1 arrived, the paper calendars were devoid of upcoming events. But for many of us, our work/digital calendars for 2019 were probably already filling up.
I’ve been impressed with many chapters posting on social media about their January events as soon as the new year arrived.
With that in mind, here are some events I hope you will mark your calendar for the Florida Public Relations Association this year.
Jan. 24-26. For Counselors’ Network members, these are the dates of the CN Winter Symposium, which will be at St. Augustine Beach.
Early March. Check with your local FPRA chapter to see when the deadline is for your local Image Awards competition.
May 10. That’s the early deadline for the Golden Image Awards entries. In fact, mark your calendar at least two weeks earlier than that so you’ll have ample time to prepare your entry (or entries).
July 12. For those of you planning (or thinking) about earning your APR and/or CPRC credential, this is the deadline to complete it so you can be recognized at Annual Conference.
Aug. 4-7. That’s the dates of the 81st Annual Conference, which will be at the Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina in downtown Tampa. The deadlines for the Early Bird conference registration date is July 22. This is also the deadline to book your hotel room.
So, ladies and gentlemen, mark your calendars.
Stay Smart. Stay Engaged. Have Fun.
