FPRA Take 5: Five Ways We Are Transforming FPRA
Let’s travel back to August 2019 when Alyson Gernert, APR, CPRC, was installed as President of the Florida Public Relations Association. It was meant to be a one-year term. But when the pandemic hit in 2020, Alyson graciously agreed to serve a second term to help FPRA navigate through the challenging year.
When Alyson unveiled her theme at the 2019 Annual Conference, none of us realized how relevant it would be. The theme, of course, was Transform FPRA. Alyson talked with FPRA Vice President of Professional Development Julie Frey, APR, CPRC to look at how FPRA leadership and membership worked to transform FPRA during the past two years.
- We learned how to be nimble and adjust to a virtual world
- We developed new ways to communicate – like this podcast and virtual professional development offerings
- We grew the Association, even during a challenging time
- We focused on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and put a plan in place for continued focus
We leaned on each other and supported each other. That’s what family is for.
