The Ocala Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association will hold its monthly professional development virtual meeting on Friday, Nov. 20, from noon-1 p.m., with networking starting at 11:45 a.m.
The featured speaker is Marion County Supervisor of Elections Wesley Wilcox. During his interactive presentation, “The key to staying transparent with the public during an election,” Wilcox will discuss how his team shattered voting records, while communicating transparently, and effectively managed the historic 2020 election.
Wilcox has served the Marion County Supervisor of Elections office since 2001, starting as a systems administrator. He worked as the assistant supervisor of elections for seven years before running for the top spot in 2012. He was re-elected in 2016 and 2020 without opposition.
During his tenure, Wilcox has successfully completed redistricting three times, implemented new voter registration systems and designed an early voting ballot on-demand system. He is a certified elections registration administrator and actively involved in the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections. He was also recently elected to serve as the lone Florida representative on an executive committee of the Elections Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center.
