Focused on interpersonal and instructional communication contexts, this workshop walks participants through essential conceptualizations of equity, inclusion and diversity. Attendees will increase their self-awareness, gaining equity minded competence to navigate workplace communication more effectively in spaces of difference. Topics include understanding power and privilege, and intersectional identity. Discussion will also highlight ways to expand understandings of our scripts and cultural expectations about conflict. Participants will walk through challenging, real-life scenarios and work to increase their ability to navigate the discomfort of conflict and difficult conversations.
