“Dolly Parton: Crisis Communication CEO” describes three crisis response theories, including the emerging discourse of renewal theory. The presentation highlights how Dolly Parton’s celebrity and associations with the Appalachian Mountains allowed her to step in as the region’s de facto “CEO” following the devastating wildfires around Great Smoky Mountain National Park, as well as then cities of Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, Tenn. The presentation includes video clips of Ms. Parton’s public remarks and detailing her philanthropic efforts on the area’s behalf.
