Since the Trump administration is a hot topic of conversation and it doesn’t seem to be cooling down any time soon, the group of PR professionals who attended the breakout session “What is Going on in Washington?” ended up moving to a larger room so everyone could have a seat at the table.

Larry Parnell asked everyone how the negative news is affecting the media as a whole. The room opened up with many different opinions but the group all agreed that Trump’s communications staff has not done their job. Regardless of individual political ideologies, the group all agreed that the state of the profession is in disarray because of the Trump administration.
The group discussed how Trump has not shared his policies and instead what we hear are only talking points.
Parnell asked the group if they think Trump’s strategy is the element of distraction. He said, “There is no question this is true.”
“We have an obligation to figure out how to mitigate the damage this administration has done to our profession,” Parnell said. He urged the group that the future is well, if we all manage this well.
“We cannot accept this situation and it’s up to us to do the right thing, otherwise we will undermine the profession.”
