Team reporting means leaning into the access you have instead of being caught up in what you aren’t allowed to report. To get that access, you have to build trust and relationships so players/coaches understand you are different than the outside media, and they can be fully open and transparent with you. Everyone can cover the x’s and o’s. Use the unique access you have to humanize the team and make fans emotionally invested and care about wins and losses.
