Scholarship Information/Application

 

FPRA offers financial support to students enrolled in a Florida college or university who are seeking a degree in public relations through the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation.

2008 Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Candidates
Candidates must be enrolled in a public relations major or emphasis track at a four-year university or college within the State of Florida, and must have junior or senior standing with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. An official transcript from your school must be submitted with your application. Membership in FPRA or an FPRA Student Chapter is required.
Students who are not currently members of FPRA or an FPRA Student Chapter are invited to
submit a completed membership application along with their scholarship application. Student
membership dues are $25. To obtain an application, visit the FPRA website at www.fpra.org or
call the State Office at (941) 365-2135.

Application
The attached application is to be typed or filled out in ink. Please print legibly. The application must be accompanied by your transcript, resume and an essay on “The Future of Public Relations and the Role I Plan to Play In It.” The essay must be an original, typed, double-spaced and no longer than two pages.

Selection Process
Winners of the FPRA Foundation Scholarships will be selected based on a recommendation from the Past Presidents' Council of the Florida Public Relations Association.

Scholarship winners will be notified in April.

Awards
This year FPRA will award one $1,500 award. Scholarship winners will also receive a certificate in recognition of their achievement and will be honored during the Presidents' Luncheon at our FPRA Annual Conference on August 4, 2008.

Deadline
The deadline for all applications for the 2005 FPRE Foundation Scholarship is February 28, 2008. Postmark date will verify the deadline. Late applications cannot be considered.

essay and application materials become property of FPRA and will not be returned.
