About Student Chapters

In 1955, an FPRA scholarship committee determined that college students should participate in future FPRA meetings. Even 50 years ago, students were recognized as an essential future for the Association. Today out of nearly 1,300 FPRA members, more than 300 are students.

While most of FPRA’s 15 professional chapters have at least some student members, there are also nine student chapters, located at universities and colleges throughout the state.

Students are an important aspect of FPRA, and participate in exciting and productive public relations activities through the year. Some of their accomplishments include producing campaigns, providing community service, developing strategic plans, implementing special events and giving back to their schools and communities while also learning and gaining valuable experience.

In additional to valuable networking opportunities with peers as well as working professionals, FPRA student members receive benefits such as access to the members’ only section of the Association’s website, the bi-monthly Association newsletter e-facts, White Papers on industry topics and issues, the Association membership directory, scholarship opportunities through the Association’s Foundation and information on attending professional workshops and seminars. In fact, each year at the FPRA annual conference, which is widely regarded as Florida’s most outstanding professional development offering in PR, a special track designed specifically for students is available.

FPRA student memberships are available to full time students enrolled in an accredited institution of learning and who are interested in public relations. Student memberships take effect from September 1 – August 31 each year.
