Dontaye Carter attended Florida A&M University from 2004 to 2009. He studied journalism and developed an unfortunate but necessary relationship with Mountain Dew as he also worked full-time producing WCTV’s Good Morning Show overnight. Dontaye worked in television news for nearly 10 years as a producer, anchor and reporter before heading to the dark side. He joined the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in 2016, and in 2017, he launched Carter Media Group. In 2020, Dontaye was honored for his work along with the attorneys representing the victims’ families in the #SurvivingRKelly case with awards in Public Service and Activism, Social Responsibility and Cause Marketing. In 2021, Def Jam Records awarded Dontaye as a Pioneer in Public Relations. The same year, Dontaye ran for mayor in Sandy Springs, Georgia, against an incumbent running for his third term. Dontaye earned more than 8,000 votes – nearly three times as many as the last three elections total.
