In 2015 Conference - Updates, 2019 President's Message

Wow, we’re down to less than two months before we meet Aug. 4-7 for the 81st Annual Conference of the Florida Public Relations Association!

This year’s conference, We Are FPRA: PRoactive. PRincipled. PRofessionals., will be hosted in downtown Tampa at the Tampa Marriott Water Street, which recently was renovated. The room rate for our conference is just $129 so book your reservation soon.

The early bird deadline to register for conference is July 22. VP of Annual Conference (AC) Jessica Potts and her AC committee have a great lineup of speakers that will provide information on a wide variety of PR topics which include leading digital media trends, effective and measurable storytelling, crisis communications, media relations, analytics that matter, effective writing, branding, getting your owned media found and so much more.

Covering these topics will be a dynamic lineup of world-class speakers from top global corporations. We have speakers from Patrón Tequila and Grey Goose Vodka at Bacardi, Wendy’s and the communications director from the City of Las Vegas who will be sharing an inside view and lessons learned from the Las Vegas mass shooting.

In addition to smart and informative speakers, we have lots of opportunities for attendees to engage with their professional peers and have fun. From my President’s Welcome Reception to a TopGolf outing, a student trip to a Tampa Bay baseball game to a yacht sunset cruise that includes dinner.

And, this year’s Golden Image Awards banquet, Gold Rush: Stake Your Claim in PR History, should not be missed. Excitement, and maybe some gold dust, will be in the air as we recognize this year’s Golden Image Award winners with gusto and style. Our gold-studded evening will also feature special recognitions that include honoring this year’s Member of the Year, the Doris Fleischman Award recipient and our Association’s most prestigious John Dillin Professional Award honoree.

If that wasn’t enough, at the President’s Luncheon, we’ll recognize the 15 great chapters that make up FPRA with awards. Who will be the next Chapter of the Year? We’ll also install the next Executive Committee, led by incoming president Alyson Lundell, APR, CPRC. You definitely won’t want to miss this event either … as we have lots more smart, engaging and fun surprises lined up for you!

So register soon and book your hotel reservation. Annual Conference is going to be Smart. Engaged. Fun.
