In Gainesville Chapter, Professional Development

Devon Chestnut, APR, FPRA Gainesville Chapter President

For the Gainesville Chapter, the month of May was about partnerships and multicultural marketing and the May luncheon was a joint effort between the Chapter and the local AdFed group. Our fascinating guest speaker, George Zwierko, joined us from Tampa to discuss cultural marketing and to explore how the lines between communication and anthropology are beginning to blur. He touched on the importance of creating a sense of inclusivity when creating an event – even if it is targeted towards a specific culture. You can target the culture but it is important to make it appealing to all cultures. This can be accomplished by creating a marketing strategy relevant across the board. It’s also beneficial to address consumer behavior; culture code influences decisions and brand preference. We had a great turnout of approximately 50 people who attended this interesting and informative luncheon.
