Gainesville Chapter presents "Netroots Rising" professional development seminar May 8

The Gainesville Chapter and UF College of Journalism and Communications are proud to present Netroots Rising, the Chapter's annual professional development seminar, May 8 at the Graham Center for Public Service on the UF campus in Gainesville.

Attendees will have the rare opportunity to hear keynote speaker Richard Mintz, vice president of strategy for Blue State Digital, the company that managed online fundraising, constituency-building, issue advocacy and peer-to-peer networking for Barack Obama’s 2008 Presidential campaign. Mintz will discuss the use of Web and social networks.

Other speakers include Jane Adams, UF vice president of university relations, Ron Sachs, president of Ron Sachs Communications and Justin Sayfie, publisher of www.sayfiereview.com.

Netroots Rising Presenting Speakers: Jane Adams, vice president of university relations for the University of Florida, will discuss UF’s Gators for Higher Education program. Ron Sachs, president of Ron Sachs Communications, will discuss the dark side of digital and Web communications. He’ll look at the challenges the Web presents when establishing relationships, and the challenges of dealing with audiences varying in age from 8 to 80.

Justin Sayfie, publisher of www.sayfiereview.com, will discuss the impact of digital communications on the political scene in Tallahassee and throughout Florida. The SayfieReview is a “must read” for all politicians and lobbyists in Florida. The online publication was started as Sayfie’s blog about three years ago.
