ABOUT

The Florida Public Relations Education Foundation is a 501 c-3 charitable organization that was established to support the mission of the Florida Public Relations Association, by funding educational programs and scholarships that advance the professionalism of our members.

Each year the Foundation awards scholarships to deserving college students, who through their academic achievement, extracurricular activities and involvement in FPRA, demonstrate their commitment to professional development. Likewise, the Foundation helps to underwrite a portion of the costs for FPRA members seeking Accreditation in Public Relations.

We hope you will take a few moments to consider what your contribution to the Foundation could mean to our students and young professionals who will be making their futures in the field of public relations.

HISTORY

In 1986, the leaders of our association established a non-profit education foundation to support the advancement of the public relations profession and practitioners themselves. The mission of the Florida Public Relations Education Foundation, Inc. included supporting professional development for its members, but most of all, it provided a forum for furthering the education of students seeking a career in public relations.

The Foundation’s first activity was to award professional scholarships to our students. Awardees were typically students with exceptional grade point averages who showed a well-balanced mix of academic and professional involvement, including membership in FPRA or an FPRA student chapter. Currently, the Association serves more than 300 student members throughout the State, who may benefit from these scholarships.

In 1996 the FPRA Executive Committee, in their dual role as officers of the Foundation, voted to extend Foundation dollars to professional members seeking Universal Accreditation in public relations. These rebates continue to help offset the significant cost of sitting for the accreditation exam.

From the onset, our members were quick to make personal as well as corporate contributions to get the Foundation established. Within a few years the Association began hosting a scholarship fund-raiser during the Annual Conference. This event not only supports the worthy endeavors of the Foundation, but also is one of the social highlights of the FPRA Annual Conference. Click here for details.
